STATE OF TEXAS FINANCIAL AID and GRANTS FOR STUDENTS

The following state-sponsored programs are only available to students attending community colleges, technical colleges and universities in Texas. They cannot be used out-of-state. The following programs do not have their own application. Eligibility is determined by the financial aid officers after reviewing information you provide them via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or other documents. To apply contact the financial aid office of the college you plan to attend. Find out their deadlines and procedures, and make sure they receive all the necessary information in time to consider you for all available financial aid.

Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)

Available to eligible students with financial need, who are enrolled at
a private non-profit Texas college or university and are required to
pay more tuition than they would pay to attend a public institution.

TOWARD EXCELLENCE, ACCESS & SUCCESS (TEXAS) GRANT PROGRAM

The Texas Legislature established the TEXAS Grant to provide aid to
Students with financial need who are attending a Texas public
University or health-related institution. Funding is limited.

TEXAS TUITION AND/OR FEE EXEMPTIONS

Exemptions are a type of financial assistance allowing some Texas
residents to attend a public college or university in Texas without
paying tuition or, in some cases, tuition and fees.

TEXAS PUBLIC EDUCATION GRANT (TPEG)

This grant provides assistance to students with financial need.
Applicants must:
– Be Texas residents, non-residents or foreign students
– Show financial need
– Register for the Selective Service, unless exempt

TEXAS EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT PROGRAM (TEOG)

The purpose of the program is to provide grant aid to students with
financial need who are enrolled in public two-year community colleges,
public technical colleges or public state colleges in Texas. Funding
is limited.
